William R. 'Bill' Baker Sr.

Sept. 9, 1945 - July 3, 2019

William R. "Bill" Baker Sr. 73, Hollidaysburg, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday following an extended illness.

He was born in Roaring Spring, son of the late James "Donald" and Ruth (McGinnis) Baker.

Surviving are his wife, Brenda, with whom he shared 52 years of marriage; two daughters: Beth (Scott) Greaser of Ridgeley, W.Va., Jeanne (Shawn) Hepborn of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; two sons: William R. (Misty) Baker Jr. and James Baker, both of Hollidaysburg; eight special grandchildren: William R. Baker III, Barry Baker, Morgan Greaser, Adam Greaser, Kaitlin Baker, Lindsay Greaser, and Jared and Nathan Hepborn; three great-grandchildren: Karissa, William R. VI and Jacob Baker; a brother, George (Trish) Baker of Arlington, Texas; and a sister, Patricia (Donald) Holsinger of Kill Devil Hills, N.C.

He was first married to Janet (Clapper) Baker, who along with their infant son, Donald E. Baker, preceded him in death. Also preceding Bill in death was his brother, James D. Baker Jr.

Bill graduated from Hollidaysburg High School in 1963. He was employed as a contractor and owner/operator of Baker Builders.

He was a member of Smith Corner Church and was a former member of Reservoir Bible Church. Bill was a man of strong faith, whose highlight of his life was his family.

He enjoyed bowling, hunting, fishing, golfing, and was a member of the Riggles Gap Sportsmans Club.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, July 8, 2019, and from 10 until the 11 a.m. celebration if life funeral service Tuesday, July 9, 2019, at The Good Funeral Home Inc., Alto-Reste Park, Pastor David McClanahan and Pastor Aaron Musselman officiating. Interment will follow in Alto-Reste Park Cemetery.
