Obituary for William "Bill" Erickson

William “Bill” Erickson, 87, Duncansville, died on Thursday, July 29, 2021 in his home surrounded by his family.Born on January 6, 1934 in Gallitzin Township. He was the son of the late William and Alma (Pugh) Erickson. On August 3, 1957 he married Joann Werking who preceded him in death on October,1, 2020.
Bill is survived by one daughter, Marlea Castle; 3 sisters, Irma Edmiston, Christine Erickson and Lynn Thomas; one brother Philip Erickson; 2 grandchildren, Brian Nevel and Kelley Mattiello; as well as two great grandchildren. Along with his parents and wife, Bill was preceded in death by his daughter, Lori Erickson and brother Ernest Erickson.
Bill enjoyed the outdoors. He was an avid hunter, reloading his own ammunition, and he found joy in fishing for trout. He was a member of the Hollidaysburg Church of the Brethren, the Masonic Lodge, and the Martinsburg Sportsman’s Club.He attended Mount Aloysius College. Throughout his working career he was employed by Veeder Root and Puritan/ Warnaco. Bill was proud to have served his country in the United States Marine Corp and was a Veteran of the Korean War.
Family and friends will be received for a time of visitation at The Good Funeral Home Inc. 108 Alto Reste Park, Altoona 16601, on Monday, August 2, 2021 from 1pm-3pm. A funeral service will take place at 3 pm with Pastor Linda Banaszak officiating. There will be full military honors by the Blair County Honor Guard.
