Joseph Bruce Stuckey Sr.

Joseph Bruce Stuckey Sr., 87, Graystone Manor at Bellmeade, died Sunday at UPMC Altoona. He left his temporary home here on Earth to enjoy the loving arms of Christ eternally.
He was born in Altoona, son of the late Willard T. Sr. and Mary (Schaffer) Stuckey. He was married twice; first to Jona Lee Kimmel on Feb. 21, 1950 until her death on Oct. 30, 1982, then to Deloris (Shope) Fidora on June 18, 1993.
Surviving are his wife, Deloris; a daughter, Ellen Ruth Smith; a special daughter through marriage, Lisa (Fidora) Trexler and fiancé, Todd Weigl; three sons: Joseph (Ellen) Stuckey of Martinsburg, Daniel (Cassey) Stuckey of Altoona and David (Debbie) Stuckey of Latrobe; five grandchildren: Laura (James) Lloyd of Woodbury, Melanie (Tom) Kness of Ford City, Alex Smith, at home, Ryan Trexler, at home and Tyler (Meghan) Trexler of Harrisburg; six great-grandchildren: Alaina Stuckey, Cullen Lloyd, Cavan Lloyd, Nevin Lloyd, Rowan Lloyd and Aaron Lloyd; and two siblings: Wayne (Jean) Stuckey and Elizabeth Reany.
He was preceded in death by two brothers: Willard Stuckey Jr. and Robert F. Stuckey; a grandson, Aaron Stuckey; and a son-in-law, James Smith.
He was a 1948 graduate of Altoona High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean War era. He enjoyed truck driving from a very young age and was employed by Ward Trucking for 37 years. He was a member of Transport for Christ and Faith Baptist Church.
Joe had a deep passion for spreading the Word and serving Christ. He had been active in Altoona Bible Church, First Baptist Church and Faith Baptist Church over the years on various boards and as a children’s Sunday school teacher. He took children in need to church and he was the prayer warrior of the family.
He loved competing in truck rodeos and placed first in Pennsylvania, advancing to the national level. He also enjoyed hunting, bird watching, gardening and volunteer work at UPMC Altoona.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2017, at the The Good Funeral Home Inc., Alto-Reste Park Cemetery, and from 9:30 to 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 12, 2017, at the home, Pastor Gary Dull officiating. Interment will at Alto-Reste Cemetery.
