Obituary for Gordon A. Gable

Gordon A. Gable
Oct. 26, 1940 - March 12, 2017
Gordon A. Gable, 76, of Huntingdon, died Sunday at his residence, after an extended illness.
He was born in Altoona, son of the late Russell J. and Jane Somerville Gable. On June 23, 1961, he married Lillian M. Leaper in Winchester, Va.
Surviving are his wife; five daughters: Patty (Gene) Morningstar, Zina Gable, Dori (Ron) Sausman, Bobbi Jo Latimer and Martha (Scott) Shaffer; a son, Gordon “Bud” Gable; 16 grandchildren’ 13 great-grandchildren, five step-grandchildren; a sister, Georgia (Jack) Vickars; and his dog, George.
He was preceded in death by a son, Gordon A. Gable Jr.; and a brother, James Buchannan.
Gordon was a 1959 graduate of Altoona High School, and he drove a truck for 43 years, 33 of which were under the employ of WARD Trucking.
He attended Heritage Baptist Church, McConnellstown. He was an avid hunter, NASCAR and dirt track racing fan, and he enjoyed working on old cars and going to auctions. Gordon was a life-member of Central Districts Firemen’s Association.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. March 25, 2017, at Heritage Baptist Church, Route 26 S., McConnellstown, Pastor Lou Zannino officiating. Arrangements are by The Good Funeral Home Inc., Alto-Reste Park.
