Roy Bernard ‘PaPa’ Lambert

June 12, 1947 - Jan. 17, 2018

Roy Bernard “PaPa” Lambert, 70, Altoona, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, at UPMC Altoona.

He was born in Sophia W.Va., son of the late Rev. Leo and Frances (Haga) Lambert. On June 27, 1966, he married Dana Stone in Sophia, W.Va.

Surviving are his wife; two daughters: Tina and her husband, Joe Conrad, of Altoona and Angie Lambert of Mechanicsburg; four grandchildren: Ayla and Tristen Conrad, and Brooklyn and Leighton Lambert; the father of Brooklyn and Leighton, Scott Harding; a sister, Phyllis Covey of Richmond, Va.; and a brother, Robert Lambert in China.

Roy was a 1965 Graduate of Sophia High School, and he received his Bachelors of Science Degree in business administration after attending both Beckley College and Frankfort College. He retired from the Van Zandt VA Medical Center.

Roy served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War, and was stationed aboard the USS Lexington and the USS Pawcatuck. He also retired from the National Guard as an E8 in 2007, and received a soldier of the year award.

He attended his father’s church, the Missionary Baptist Church in Beckley, W.Va. He was a member of the Heidelberg Country Club and the National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association.

Roy loved his family, and he enjoyed cooking and gardening,
