Alvin Paul Vaughn Jr.
Sept. 21, 1931 – Jan. 30, 2018
Alvin Paul Vaughn Jr., 86, Altoona, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Philipsburg, son of the late Alvin Paul Sr. and Gladys Mae (Turnbaugh) Vaughn.
Surviving are his loving wife, Nancy of 59 years; a daughter, Shelley Vaughn of Crofton, Md.; a son, Todd (Laurie) Vaughn; a grandson, Andrew Vaughn; a sister, Carol Otto; two brothers-in-law; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Katherine “Kitty” Leidy.
Alvin was a graduate of Altoona High School, Class of 1949. He attended Penn State Altoona, and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force on Jan. 2, 1951. He served until he was honorably discharged on Dec. 9, 1954. While in the Air Force he flew on a B-36 Bomber. He was employed by AT&T for over 35 years before retiring.
He was a member of Altoona Alliance Church. He also was a member of several bowling leagues for over 55 years.
He loved the outdoors, was an avid reader, and he loved spending time with his family and friends.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 3, 2018, at The Good Funeral Home Inc., Alto-Reste Park. A funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. following the visitation, at the funeral home, Pastor Tim McGarvey officiating. Interment will be at Alto-Reste Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Altoona Alliance Church, 3220 Pleasant Valley Blvd. #1, Altoona, PA 16602.
