Martha Jane “Marty” Shay , 78, of Altoona, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday March 28, 2018 at Maybrook Hills. She was born on June 19, 1939 in Altoona daughter of the late Roy and Verna (Davis) Light. Marty married James Edward Shay Sr. on November 26, 1960 in Altoona and he passed away on January 21, 1981. Surviving are Two sons- Mark and wife Susan of Hollidaysburg and Richard and wife Frances of Hagerstown MD. 6 grandchildren- Ashley, Krista, Benjamin, and Sydney all of Hollidaysburg, Jared and Taylor of Hagerstown, MD; and 1 great granddaughter- Hailey. Marty is also survived by 3 sisters- Helen Wardeh of Clermont,FL; Mary McMinn of Mechanicsburg, PA; and Jean Creighton of Altoona. Marty was preceded in death by her son- James E. Shay Jr. She was a member of Faith United Church of Christ, Altoona and was employed as a Registered Nurse at Altoona Regional Hospital from 1960 until 2002. She was a 1957 Grad of Altoona Area High School and a 1960 Graduate of the Altoona Hospital Nursing School. Marty enjoyed her church, church choir, her grandchildren, watching sports and reading. Friends will be received from 11am. Until the 1pm. Funeral service Monday April 2, 2018 at The Good Funeral Home Inc. with Pastor John L. Emig officiating. Interment will be at Alto Reste Park Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Faith United Church of Christ 711 Seventh Ave Altoona, PA. 16602
