March 23, 1923 – Jan. 23, 2021

Paul E. Magill, 97, of Dauphin, passed into the presence of Jesus Saturday, Jan. 23, 2021, after a two-week struggle with COVID-19 at the West Shore Hospital, Mechanicsburg. He was born in Duncansville, son of George E. and Lola R. (Wilt) Magill, the fourth of seven children.

Paul graduated from Hollidaysburg High School in 1940, then enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and served in the WW II Pacific theater.

On Sept. 27, 1947, he married Jane (Null) Magill with whom he shared life for over 68 years until her death in 2015.

They resided in Brooks Mills until 2014 when they moved to the Harrisburg area and lived with their daughter, Sharon, and son-in-law, Joe Fetterhoff.

Early in their marriage, they both decided to follow Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior and He guided their lives ever since. Paul was a member of and served as a trustee / deacon at Vicksburg Grace Brethren Church for over 50 yrs.

He was employed by Brumbaugh Body Co. constructing custom ordered firetrucks until his retirement in the 1980s.

Paul is survived by his brother, Earl Magill, of Ashburn, Va.; and sister, Linda (Magill) Miller, of Duncansville. He is also survived by his daughter, Sharon (Magill) Fetterhoff and her husband Joe, of Dauphin; grandchildren: Joshua Fetterhoff (Julia), Jenee Martin (Jason), Rachel Pratt (Dustin), Caleb Fetterhoff, Isaac Fetterhoff (Anna); and 18 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by siblings: Derwood Magill, Maxine Keller, Lafern Magill and James Magill.

His pleasant demeanor, ready smile and easy presence will be deeply missed by many, who loved him dearly.

Friends will be received from 10:30 until the 11 a.m. celebration of life service Thursday, Feb. 4, 2021, at the Vicksburg Grace Brethren Church, 335 Reservoir Rd., Hollidaysburg. Masks and social distancing are requested. A graveside Military Honor Guard service will follow at 12:30 p.m. at Alto Reste Cemetery, Altoona.
