Cheryl Jane Hoff

Feb. 16, 1950 – May 18, 2020

Cheryl Jane Hoff, 70, Altoona, passed away peacefully Monday at her home, surrounded by family following a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Eugene B. and Emma R. (Walker) Gutshall. On Jan. 10, 1970, Cheryl married Joseph C. Hoff and he preceded her in death on June 22, 2017.

Surviving are a daughter, Melissa J. Fels (Craig); two sons: Joseph E. Hoff Sr. and Justin T. Hoff; five grandchildren: Brynn Danella, Joseph E. Hoff Jr., Camryn Hoff, Lauren Fels and Erin Fels; and a sister, Donna J. Gutshall.

She was preceded in death by her aunt, Claire Walker.

Cheryl was a 1968 graduate of Altoona Area High School. She was employed by Verizon and enjoyed shopping, crossword puzzles, playing Candy Crush, but most of all she enjoyed taking care of her five grandchildren.

All services will be privately held at the convenience of her family. Interment will take place in Alto-Reste Park. Arrangements are by The Good Funeral Home Inc., Alto-Reste Park.

I worked with Cheryl at Verizon. The memory that I would like to share most with you was that she was always such a sweet, happy person and she was always smiling. I'm sure you already know that though. The reason it is so memorable to me though, is because so many of us, especially myself, were not always happy to be there. When she would walk in, she would brighten the office with her beautiful smile. Cheryl was also very upbeat and positive. I don't believe I ever heard her complain about anything. I'm so sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

Dear Family of Cheryl

Cheryl and I worked together after school at wilts florist. Our job was to pick buds from the plants in the greenhouse. Oh my gosh we would end up throwing them at each other. We had so much fun. She was so sweet. Please accept my deepest sympathy. (I support our local sideline cancer for pancreatic cancer.)
